Position Summary 

The Study Abroad program at the University of Connecticut seeks a dynamic Program Assistant I (UCP 3) to participate in all aspects of program administration and recruitment. The proposed start date is October 5, 2012.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Student Services Office, the successful candidate will facilitate the workflow related to study abroad applications and maintain all related computer and paper files, including student records; serve as primary resource to students, faculty, partners, administrators and external parties on matters relating to Study Abroad activities and procedures; compile and evaluate program-related data; compile and maintain collection of resource materials and program information; perform special projects that require technical knowledge and understanding of study abroad; confer with and assist supervisor in the performance of program administrative matters; arrange program logistics and administrative support for program staff; assist in the preparation and dissemination of budgets and billing memos; oversee student registration and fees; enroll study participants in international health insurance; assist students in the preparation and processing of international student visas; prepare financial aid profiles for study abroad participants; write and/or edit informational and promotion materials for use in outreach activities; assist in outreach programs and conference planning, making arrangements as necessary; coordinate and supervise some non-academic aspects of program, including student labor; perform related duties as required. 
   
Qualifications 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience; at least one year of experience in a responsible administrative support position, which demonstrates knowledge of administrative methods; demonstrated ability to work independently and regularly exercise judgment regarding administrative detail and procedures; ability to provide entry-level program support; excellent interpersonal, intercultural communication and organizational skills; good writing and communication skills; and computer skills, including MSWord, MSExcel, and MSPowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a study abroad office; experience working with StudioAbroad, or other student services software; and demonstrated customer service experience in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. 
   
Appointment Terms 
This is a full-time, 12-month, permanent position.
